MMHCA provides Supervisor Training (required to supervise PLPCs) throughout the state. We have trained hundreds of LPCs to pass along their knowledge and expertise to the next generation of Professional Counselors.
In this workshop you will:
Consider what ethical codes and principles guide the practice of supervision
Get a simple review of state laws as apply to supervision
Read about, discuss, and apply researched practices in distance supervision
Distinguish between administrative and clinical supervision
Learn effective qualities of and models of clinical supervision
Identify your own challenges in supervision
Practice skills of clinical supervision
Consider common and unusual supervision scenarios
Ask relevant questions and discuss supervision
While LPC supervision is the focus of this workshop, it is applicable to social workers, psychologists, and supervisors in other professions. It will be interactive with opportunity to explore questions and experiences from participants’ own practice. 6.5 NBCC hours will be awarded for this Workshop.
Dr. Jeffrey Cornelius-White is Professor of Counseling and has served as a program coordinator, CACREP liaison and practicum/internship coordinator over the years. He conducted his dissertation on supervision, has published over 100 works, has trained psychologists and counselors for 25 years, and helped design the supervision course at Missouri State University.
Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association (MMHCA) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 2059. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. MMHCA is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
