MIssouri LPC licenses will expire on 6/30/2017. We have received an update from the Committee for Professional Counselors stating that renewal notices will be sent out at least 60 days prior to that date. Verification of Continuing Education experience is a part of the renewal process and we have been informed that a random audit of licenses regarding CE compliance will be done for the 2015-2017 licensure cycle. Audit notices will be sent out sometime in August. It is important that you have your Continuing Education hours documented and associated certificates and verifications ready for any potential audits. For more information you can visit the committee's website http://pr.mo.gov/counselors.asp or Check out this document outlining the continuing education requirements and how to document those. On Student Legislative Day 2017 we had over 40 students and faculty members gathered to advocate for the professional of counseling in the state of Missouri. We had the opportunity to talk with about 20 representatives regarding House Bill 873, which, if passed, will allow Licensed Professional Counselors the opportunity to serve more people, especially in rural areas in which services are not readily available due to insurance restrictions and limited care providers. It was also a great time to meet fellow students and future colleagues from around the state while we united around the cause of our profession.
**This opportunity to advocate is not over. If you would still like to be involved in the process of advocating, especially for House Bill 873, then contact your representative, asking for his or her support. Every effort makes a difference!"
