MMHCA has been in contact with the Committee for Professional Counselors regarding our efforts to update the education standards for LPCs to be more in line with national trends. This effort is designed to align Missouri's licensure requirements with national education standards and improve our position for further advocacy for the expanded rights and privileges of Missouri LPCs.
We have been informed by the Committee that an Executive order by newly elected Governor Greitens has frozen the review process until his administration is fully in place an able to review the issues at hand. This freeze extends to all state agencies. A link to Executive order 17-03 can be found below. http://www.sos.mo.gov/library/reference/orders/2017/eo3 We have been assured by the committee that this issue will remain on the agenda. Further action on this issue should not be expected until this Summer or Fall.
